About us
It all started in grandma Vera's kitchen. Our owner and founder, Akiko White used to sit upon her grandmother’s kitchen counter tossing ingredients into her grandma's 30 year old kitchen aid. Grandma Vera always knew how to adjust the recipe to make everything come out just right! Several years later Akiko honed her cake skills and won several cake shows, one being the best in show at That Takes the Cake Show in Austin, Texas and she participated on Food Network’s Cake Wars with the Best Designed Cake in Cake Wars History! Akiko became interested in preserves when her family lived in Colorado. They had a crabapple tree in their front yard which put off an abundance of fruits. Akiko couldn’t let the fruit go to waste so she made some crabapple jam. Together with her daughter they took a little wagon filled with jars of jam down the street to distribute them throughout the neighborhood.
Many recipes later, Akiko and her husband Scott decided to try their hand at selling preserves. With some of Scott’s grandmother's recipes from Hawaii they created White Acres Farms in the Texas hill country. Akiko brings her experiences and shares her creativity with Hawaii now through Aloha Bites. “Sharing Aloha One Bite at a Time!”
